The Minnesota Wild signed center Michael McCarron to a six-year, $20 million contract on Tuesday, securing one of their impending free agents after his productive arrival via midseason trade. The 31-year-old was acquired from the Nashville Predators for a 2028 second-round draft pick on March 3.

McCarron appeared in 20 regular-season games for the Wild following the deal. The 6-foot-6 forward posted career highs across the 2025-26 season between Nashville and Minnesota, recording 109 shots on goal, 205 hits and 77 blocked shots.

This signing removes a key potential free agent from Minnesota's offseason to-do list, giving the team added stability down the middle. The Wild remain in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race as they push toward the postseason.

The Wild are scheduled to continue their regular-season schedule with upcoming divisional matchups that will further shape their playoff positioning. McCarron's physical style and recent production suggest he will remain a fixture in the bottom-six forward group.

"We felt like Michael was a great fit for us from the moment he arrived," a team source was quoted as saying. "His size, toughness and improving skill set made this an easy decision for the organization."
