Einride, a Swedish autonomous trucking company, begins trading on the Nasdaq today following the completion of its SPAC merger. The deal priced the firm at a pre-money valuation of $1.35 billion.

The listing marks a significant milestone for the autonomous freight sector, which has attracted substantial investment amid a global push to decarbonize logistics. Einride's technology focuses on electric and autonomous heavy-duty trucks for freight transport.

Stockholm-based EQT Ventures is among the company's notable backers. The SPAC merger provides Einride with fresh capital to scale its operations and expand its fleet of self-driving electric trucks.

The debut comes as the SPAC market shows signs of recovery, though the autonomous vehicle sector still faces regulatory hurdles and technological challenges. Einride will need to demonstrate commercial traction to justify its valuation.

Some analysts question whether autonomous trucking can achieve widespread adoption in the near term given safety and infrastructure concerns.
