Tony Ferrari has released his latest 'Team Ferrari' mock draft, this time simulating the selection process for the Detroit Red Wings in the 2026 NHL Draft. The exercise imagines what the franchise might do if he were steering its draft board.

Ferrari’s analysis focuses on whether the Red Wings should prioritize skill forwards or defensive depth with their early picks. He projects Detroit targeting a dynamic center in the first round, followed by a blend of two-way wingers and puck-moving defensemen in later rounds.

The mock draft does not account for potential trades or changes in Detroit’s pick order before the actual event. Ferrari emphasizes that team needs could shift significantly depending on the club’s performance in the 2025-26 season.

While the exercise provides a fan-friendly blueprint, actual draft decisions will be made by Detroit’s front office, led by general manager Steve Yzerman. The team holds multiple picks across the first three rounds as of the current projection.

“This is purely speculative,” Ferrari notes in the piece. “But it’s fun to imagine what the Red Wings could build with the right selections.”
