Griffin Wilde, now one of South Dakota's top athletes, hosted a youth wide receiver camp in Sioux Falls on Monday, giving back to the community that helped launch his career. The event, held at the Sanford Fieldhouse, drew dozens of young players eager to learn from the local standout.
Wilde's journey came full circle at the camp. Eight years ago, he attended a similar clinic run by former South Dakota State and NFL running back Zach Zenner, an experience that Wilde says helped shape his own athletic path. Now, he's the one offering drills and advice to the next generation.
The camp focused on fundamental wide receiver skills, including route running, hand placement, and catching technique. Wilde, who has emerged as one of the most decorated high school athletes in state history, emphasized hard work and dedication during his instruction.
While Wilde's future beyond high school remains uncertain, his commitment to his hometown is clear. The event was organized in partnership with Sanford Power and the Riggs Academy, the same organizations that hosted the clinic he attended as a child.
"I remember being in their shoes, looking up to players like Zach Zenner," Wilde said at the camp. "It's special to be on the other side now and hopefully inspire these kids the way I was inspired."
