Visionary Homes, one of Utah’s largest privately held homebuilders, has named Ryan Smith as its next chief executive officer, effective Sept. 1, 2026. Smith joins from Oakwood, where he served as an executive, bringing leadership experience to the rapidly growing builder.

Co-founder and current CEO Jeff Jackson will transition to chairman of the board on Jan. 1, 2027. The leadership shift marks a strategic handoff as the firm navigates Utah’s competitive housing market, where demand remains robust despite higher interest rates.

The move comes amid a broader trend of builder C-suite changes as companies position for post-pandemic normalization. No specific financial terms or succession timeline details beyond the announced dates were disclosed by the firm.

While leadership transitions often signal stability, the timing—more than two years out—raises questions about current strategic direction. The company’s ability to maintain its market share in Utah’s tightening housing cycle will be tested under new leadership.
