NASA's Artemis 2 mission has begun its return trip to Earth after successfully completing a crewed lunar flyby. The Orion spacecraft, carrying its crew of astronauts, executed the planned trajectory around the moon and is now heading back toward Earth for splashdown.

Scientists have started the process of reviewing the extensive collection of images and observational data gathered by the crew during their lunar transit. The observations were captured as the spacecraft flew around the moon, providing new scientific data from the first crewed lunar mission in over five decades.
