Orbital Industries, a British company engineering industrial hardware from the atom up with artificial intelligence, has closed a €43 million ($50 million) Series B funding round. The firm focuses on manufacturing components at the atomic scale for data centers and other industrial settings.
The round was led by Plural, with existing investors also participating. The fresh capital will be used to scale production of its data center products, expand its AI and engineering teams, and develop the platform for broader industrial applications beyond data centers.
Orbital operates in the nascent field of atomically precise manufacturing, where AI guides the assembly of materials at the molecular level to achieve superior performance. This approach could potentially disrupt traditional semiconductor and hardware supply chains by enabling denser, more efficient components.
The investment signals growing confidence in deep-tech manufacturing startups that combine AI with materials science. As demand for more powerful data center hardware surges due to AI workloads, atom-precise fabrication offers an alternative to conventional lithography and etching methods.
The company was founded by a team with backgrounds in physics, engineering, and AI. No specific revenue or valuation figures were disclosed in the announcement.
