A developer has released Hnwork.app, a user interface designed to parse Hacker News's unstructured 'Who is hiring' threads. The tool, presented on the forum, addresses the challenge of navigating free-form text posts that lack consistent formatting.

Traditional 'Who is hiring' threads rely on plain-text submissions, which can be difficult to scan for specific roles, locations, or salary data. Hnwork.app introduces structured fields, text search, and filters, converting raw posts into a more organized format. The creator initially attempted the project at a Y Combinator hackathon years ago.

Key features include text search, filters, and analytics, alongside an API for programmatic access. The tool automatically removes off-topic posts such as complaints or vague entries. Job posters can create accounts to submit structured postings with required fields, including a mandatory salary range.

The service also offers email verification for job posters, aiming to reduce impersonation—for instance, verifying that a Sony job poster uses a Sony email address. Posters receive notifications about comments on their listings, and companies with multiple employees can manage accounts jointly.

Hnwork.app fills a niche left by prior attempts to improve the threads' readability. The developer acknowledged that similar tools have been built over the years, marking this as an incremental improvement rather than a novel concept.
