The U.S. Department of Justice announced Friday it has seized CFAKE.com and SOCFAKE.com, websites accused of hosting nonconsensual AI-generated nude images and videos of women. The seizure marks what appears to be the first publicly confirmed domain action under the TAKE IT DOWN Act, a federal law targeting nonconsensual intimate imagery.

The DOJ did not specify how many victims were affected or provide details on the scope of operations. Sources indicate the sites allegedly offered paid services to generate deepfake nudes, using AI models trained on publicly posted photos without consent.

Authorities stated the investigation remains ongoing, but no arrests have been announced. The seized domains now display a seizure banner warning visitors of the federal action.

The TAKE IT DOWN Act, signed into law in 2024, criminalizes the publication of intimate images—including AI-generated ones—without consent. The law also requires platforms to remove such content upon notification.

Legal experts note this seizure sets a precedent for future enforcement, though questions remain about jurisdictional challenges when servers are hosted overseas or use encryption to hide operations.
