House Democrats failed Thursday to pass a war powers resolution that would have constrained President Trump's ability to wage war with Iran. The measure, forced to a vote by House Foreign Affairs Committee ranking member Greg Meeks (D-N.Y.), was defeated by a single vote, 213 to 214.

This marks the third unsuccessful attempt by Democrats to pass such a resolution concerning Iran. Some lawmakers fear the repeated failures will be interpreted as a tacit green light for the administration to continue bypassing congressional authority on military matters.
